Displaced
Rowan Fenner-Adams

Inspired by Dancers from the Dance by Andrew Holleran

Let’s pretend the glow
From cigarette butts
Are fireflies

Let’s pretend these subway cars
Are horses

Let’s pretend these car horns
Are a chorus of geese

Hold my hand
And breathe beyond the vape smoke
To smell sweet grass and dew

Tell me
Can you see a future there?
Can you see our queer bodies somewhere soft?

If I close my eyes
I can see Polaris
And pretend I am home.
